To the mountains.....

Dear diary, been here four months now, still no sign of the north west passage. Personally I think its a myth and that the world really is flat and I would be in good company for thinking that. Apparently the Flat Earth Society is thriving and claims to have many members all around the globe!

Did I mention we love being in Penticton? Well, we do because.....where to begin....I have to begin with all the people we have met and become friends with most especially Jo and her sidekick Barkley the terrier or terror!  We met Jo last year on a very cold icy hilltop on the winter solstice and she has become one of those rare lifelong buddies. She is one of those whose heart is as big as her head......no, bigger!  Every time we needed a little help she was there, nothing was a problem. We even bought her car.

Then theres Ron & Lorette, what can I say about these two. Ron is a retired bricklayer from Brandon, bit like me apart from the Brandon bit. I feel as though Ive known Ron all my life, Lorette just makes me laugh. We met them in Alberta on our original journey and just seem to meet up with them all the time, even in Walmart.

There are many other people around Canada and Penticton in particular who now know the location of Cornwall and Wales.

So here is where we are right now. We left Penticton last Friday to see Carol & Cory in Vernon before the winter. We bought a large tent and loads of stuff for real camping like gas bottles and things. We borrowed a cooker, a kitchen thingy, sleeping bags etc from Shelley in Penticton. We are now real campers, log fires and no washing for days.....also bears looking for the last meal before hibernation so have to be very cautious with food not being left out at night.

We are now in the Kootenays, a mountain range mid BC, stunning scenery, headed slowly toward Archie in Golden on the Alberta border. He finishes his contract on the 16th which frees him for our road trip down to California for a month before returning to Cornwall for the winter.

On the way up to Nakusp Springs, we crossed a lake on a ferry not too dissimilar to the King Harry ferry in Cornwall, except this one was a free ride.
