Canada Facts

Did you know that all Canadian coins are magnetic? I have no idea why other than maybe because all coins have a high steel content maybe for economic reasons?

Here we go again......

Dear Diary,  been here two weeks now. The reason for my absence blogwise is not because I lack anything interesting to report, quite the opposite.
Let me set the scene.  Its Wednesday evening in the hills above Penticton, dark now but still very warm at 24c. Good dinner enjoyed with 3-4 cold beers overshadowed by a large vodka, orange and ice. The crickets are calling to the stars who  respond by getting brighter, or maybe thats the vodka.......whatever, all good.
Post dinner, post hot tub feeling good so time to probe the failing memory banks of the last two weeks.

We left Cornwall on the 10th, for me twas with a slightly heavy heart as I had spent quite a lot of time with Ginny and Alex, the last 3-4 years with Ginny being away in Cambridge I felt detached from her but recently feel reconnected and a lot closer. I had forgotten how much she is her fathers daughter.  Also, the flat in Redruth has become something of a bolt hole or a safe cave, something we haven't had for a while, and is left in the very good hands of beloved daughter #1 Harley.   Need to spend more time with her also!

Anyway, we flew into Penticton and the sunshine. I had forgotten all about the condition of the trailer in January when we flew home. We had put the trailer into outside storage and fled this sub zero province in haste. I did try and drain the 55 gallon sewage tank slung underneath the trailer chassis but at minus 25c even shit freezes, so I left it.
On the plane at 37,000 ft above the north Atlantic my mind did a wonderful thing akin to the Captain making some announcement. Mid movie I got a call from brain, "Hey Thomas, remember you left all that frozen poo? Well its now 25c so you might have a problem there, anyway, enjoy your flight and your movie, oh, and your dinner".

We landed, went to the trailer the next day.....nothing! Sweet as lavender.
I know I left a good 30 gallons of poo popsicle but the tank was empty?

So, the trailer was placed on a permanent pitch at the Barefoot Beach Resort, a beach on Skaha lake at huge expense but safe until the winter by which time we will head for home and decision time as to whether we return next year for another summer.
Meanwhile, instead of playing the tourist card I got a part time job at Walmart.    I have met some of the finest Canadian type people ever which if you think about it makes sense.
I don't like the job particularly but really like being considered as part of the team.   The work is mind numbingly boring but the humour is worth keeping.
My official title is Electronics Associate but at busy times I get called down to the tills to help out.    Whatever you have heard about Walmart customers, its all true! They are devoid of humour, humanity, common sense or reasoning.
They have no teeth, self control, dress sense or information regarding healthy eating or personal hygiene.
But I have a bit of fun with them.

As the trailer is to remain at Barefoot, we no longer need a big old truck to tow it. Turns out I thought said truck was 7.3 litre but in actual fact is only a 6 litre. So we sold it and bought a Pontiac Transport....3.4 V6 people carrier from Jo our best friend.

Meanwhile, Archie finds himself unemployed and homeless in BC. We collect him and after a week or so deliver him to his new job and home in the Rocky mountains in east BC, an eight hour drive, so he is all sorted..

Thats more or less it in terms of all caught up.   Hoping to head down to California late this summer to lick some fuselages of stored military aircraft, other than that....did I mention we are right on the end of Pentictons main and only runway........🛫🛫

Best add some photos..........
